Birth of Lily Johanna Aasmyr

After seeing my OB/GYN on Tuesday, October 5th, she was worried that I would go into labor towards the end of the week or over the weekend (when she wasn't on call) so she let me decide if I wanted to be induced before the weekend or after (& risk going into labor over the weekend).  As badly as I wanted the baby to be born on 10/10/10, I wanted Dr. Hare, my OB/GYN for all of my babies, to deliver my sweet baby girl.  So we set the induction for 10/8/10 - exactly 38 weeks gestation.

All evening/night long on 10/6/10-10/7/10, I felt like I was going into labor.  During the day on 10/7/10, I just knew that at any point my water was going to break.  I went into the hospital, as scheduled, at 7:30pm on 10/7/10 (still to be induced the following morning), but by 9:30pm, I was having hard contractions 2-3 minutes apart.  By 10:00pm, my water broke, and I got the epidural.  By 1:30am, I was dilated to 9cm and waiting for my Dr. to arrive to deliver sweet Lily. 

The delivery was really, really quick.  Literally, 1 push and 2 coughs later, Lily Johanna was born at 1:57am on October 8, 2010.   She weighed 7 lbs 5 ozs, and was 19 inches long.  She is beautiful.  Pictures below captured the moment!
