We are coming up with a new slogan at our house! Go away...!!!!
Well....let me digress for a minute.
Since we returned from Norway in early July, Benjamin has been scared of monsters. At Farfar's house in Norway, there is a door that opens and leads to the basement, where we wash clothes. It is very dangerous to go down the stairs to the basement. They are old, wooden, and open between each step -- with no railing. Of course, the basement has a concrete bottom.
We were deathly afraid that Benjamin was going to attempt to head down to the basement, and Timothy would follow....falling and possibly, literally, killing himself along the way. So...upon coming out of the door to the basement and hearing Benjamin ask, "What is down there?" very inquisitively, we (more like I) devised a spur of the moment plan, and boldly said, "Benjamin, there is a MONSTER down there!!!! Don't go down there or else the monster will get you!"
You might be saying...what was I thinking??? But, hey, it worked! I mean - it REALLY worked! We had no worries of either boy attempting to head down to the basement. Even when we were outside playing, Benjamin would point to the outside steps heading to the basement and declare, "That's where the monster is!" He said that at every house we went to that had a basement. He got it, and we were thankful.
Well...that is until we returned home, and every night Benjamin told us how there were monsters in his room! What now? Well, we created a very simple plan -- and told him to say, "GO AWAY MONSTER!!!!"
Over the last few months it's become a very common slogan around our house. We probably say, "GO AWAY MONSTER" at least 2-3 times a night, and sometimes more!
Add to that -- the monster answers, "Ohhh, mannnnnn!" (like Swiper from Dora the Explorer) and runs away.
Now, back to my original story..... We returned home from visiting my sister in California earlier today, and we took Timothy to the doctor due to a high fever for over 48 hours (while traveling). Timothy was diagnosed with Tonsillitis!
We are thankful that it's not the flu, but since we were secretly hoping for a sinus infection, we were discouraged that our sweet boy has Tonsillitis and, according to the Pediatrician, has to stay home from daycare for at least 2 days.
So (sigh)...our slogan of the week is, "GO AWAY TONSILLITIS!!!!"
