Gruene, Texas

Last weekend, we traveled to Gruene, Texas for a friend's 40th Birthday Celebration! Of course, we had a great time listening to great music and catching up with lots of friends who we haven't seen in quite some time.
Benjamin LOVED the band - he simply loves music! He gets it honest -- both Harry and I have musical interests/talents so it's no surprise that our little guy loves anything and everything to do with music! His favorite toy is his play guitar, and he has no problem playing imaginary guitar everywhere we go! We are convinced that he is going to be a starving artist/musician some day, but for now, he's just doing it for pure fun!

Timothy likes music, but he's much more interested in playing and kissing on all of the girls! He loves giving "sugar" to just about anyone willing to take it! By the end of the night, he was exhausted from having so much fun and excitement!

For me, it was nice to get back to New Braunfels and visit my "old stomping grounds." From around 1950-1990, it was a family tradition to travel to New Braunfels every year for 10 days for vacation. My mom started going when she was a young girl, and then my parents continued the tradition when I was growing up. It wasn't just my family -- it was several families (2 generations of families continuing the tradition), and we all went every summer and built memories of a lifetime.

I remember New Braunfels long before the Schlitterbahn was there. In fact, we watched the Schlitterbahn develop one castle/tube shoot at a time - all around us at Landa Park! I have so many wonderful memories of my childhood from there - it was neat to go back and see a few highlights.

The Bavarian Village -- where I grew up eating footlong sandwiches, dancing with Louie (an elderly local), and let's not forget - competing in the baby bottle rootbeer drinking contest! Landa Park - where we stayed in the same room every year from the time I was born until I was almost legal!

Town Center...Prince Solms Hotel...Naegelins Bakery (the oldest operating bakery in the state of Texas)....The Gristmill....Oma & Opas (food/antiques/souveniers)....Gruene Hall -- the list goes on and on.

The bottom line.....We had wonderful time! I think the photos speak for themselves!

Benjamin (& Timothy) already mesmerized by the starter band!
