As I start to write my very short story about Barack Obama (and my 3 year old), I can't help but wonder what satellites are going off in Washington as this is posted! Am I being tagged as somebody to watch because I'm blogging about the President? Hmmm.....Let's hope not because the thought, alone, is pretty freaky, but even more so beause I'd hate to think that my tax dollars are being spent investigating myself, when all I have to say is this.....
In the last week, Benjamin has asked me the same, interesting, question on 3 separate occasions. "Mommy, do you think Barack Obama is happy with me?"
Harry and I don't talk politics in the house much at all. If anything, we discuss a few issues - mainly our concern about change in healthcare and increase in taxes. Add to that, we never get to watch TV, let alone the news, until both boys are in bed. So where is this coming from?
Benjamin has known who the President is since Obama won the election - so that doesn't surprise me. He's also pointed him out on TV once - last October when we were staying in a hotel room, flipping channels. He saw a glimpse of the President and declared, "Mommy, there's Barack Obama!" I was surprised and impressed with the facial recognition, and told him that he was correct.
Benjamin hasn't mentioned him again until this past week. So, it's odd (and funny), that 4+ months later, out of the blue....he would ask, "Mommy, do you think Barack Obama is happy with me?" Three times in 5 days!
I'll admit this question is rather hilarious. What is going on in my little 3 1/2 year-old's mind to ask such a question? Why Barack Obama? Why is he concerned about whether or not the President is happy with him?
I'm beginning to think that maybe I can use Barack Obama as leverage? If this is on Benjamin's mind this much, maybe, when Benjamin is acting less than stellar, I need to start saying, "Benjamin! I don't think Barack Obama is happy with you right now!"

Oh girl, that is just too too good. I mean, where does he come up with this stuff? You couldn't make it up if you tried! It would be so hard for me not to crack up if my kid asked me that. And yes, I think you definitely should use it to your advantage next time he isn't minding Mommy! Ha!
