RSV Strikes (Again)!

Lily was seen by the pediatrician today and tested positive for RSV - respiratory syncytial virus!   (Benjamin got RSV 4 years ago when he was 6-7 months old and my niece/nephew (twins) were diagnosed 13 years ago when they were about 4 weeks old and were hospitalized.....so we are very familiar with this virus.)

A little information about RSV.....  "Human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a virus that causes respiratory tract infections. It is the major cause of lower respiratory tract infection and hospital visits during infancy and childhood.  RSV infection can, in rare cases, cause death in infants. However, this is unlikely if the child is seen by a health care provider early in the course of the illness."

Lily is being treated with breathing treatments three times a day and oral steroids and will be seen by her pediatrician again early next week to make sure that she has improved.  We are confident that she will be perfectly fine.  In the meantime, let the breathing treatments begin!

  1. Uh-oh, it doesn't look like she's enjoying it too much! Thank goodness you caught it early! I'm sorry you're having to go through this and hopefully she'll make a speedy recovery!
